Back To My Father’s House

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.   1 John 2:16

Guilty
But still I move on

Ashamed
But still I move on

Condemned
But still I move on

As I picture His throne
My heart continues to groan
Remembering my error makes me sadder
As I imagine the face of my Father.

Timidly arriving at His throne, I fall
With my body crawled into a ball
As I offer a living sacrifice; myself
Of a truth, from His mercy-seat flows Himself.

Back to my Father’s house
Where the lost sheep is welcome home

Back to my Father’s house
Where the lost coin is found

Back to my Father’s house
Where the prodigal son is celebrated

As the host of heaven rejoices at my return
My heavenly Father asks an eternal question
Why did you ever leave?
